Colin Dean was born in Devon, England in 1956, and attended the University of Wales to study Zoology and Applied Science. He soon abandoned the academic world and worked in factories, on farms, as a waiter, a caretaker, construction worker and sold advertising space for various publications. He later went on to be a journalist, covering the European commercial vehicle market. He has lived and worked in France, Spain and Italy where he has been for the last 25 years. As soon as he was able to hold a pencil, he was taught how to draw by his grandfather Harry Goss, who was a top draughtsman and engineer at the Hoover factory in South Wales. Harry Goss showed him how to draw ships, planes, trucks and buses. Since that time, Colin has experimented with various mediums, including materials reclaimed from abandoned factories, beaches and dumps (including broken musical instruments) to produce a range of collages and compositions. He also uses acrylic, tempera, oil and charcoal to depict a wide range of subjects. He studied with Welsh craftsman Hugh Roberts for a number of years where he learnt to work with green wood to make chairs, stools and a variety of decorative objects in hardwoods, primarily elm, ash and yew. He has put on three exhibitions of work in Gorizia over the years and has work in several local private collections. All of the pieces on this website are for sale unless otherwise stated.

Colin Dean è nato nel Devon, in Inghilterra, nel 1956. Ha studiato zoologia e scienze applicate presso l'Università del Galles.
